Australian's Are Arseholes

This poem was created for the La Trobe Arts Festival 2019.

 

‘Australian’s Are Arseholes’ explores the other side of Australian’s perception as outsiders. This non-romanticised online poem uses an insult or phrase that’s been said or used by various people outside of Australia. The rest of each verse tells the truth and subverts these points of view.

There’s a tendency to glamorise the outsider image, this poem explores the alternative and tries to say that, whilst it isn’t a bad thing to be an outsider, it’s not necessarily going to be accepted by other people.
